Tick. Tock.

These flip flops were made flying. However my visa is still in the mail. We're investigating today to see where it's at and hopefully my Friday departure will hold. 

Nearing the beginning...

The beginning is almost here!! And today my mission, that I have to accept and accomplish, is packing. It has been collecting and now needs organizing. I need to fold, squish, shove, and then a scale! Wish me luck. 

The balance.....

The flight is only a week away. And my biggest trial is packing. Who on earth decided that 50lbs is sufficient for baggage. I am now in the process of should I or shouldn't I. Will I need or won't I need. Ugh. The frustration, the turmoil, the utter lack of space and weight. Oh dear. I'll let you know how it goes. Peace. 

Pre Day 3

We've gotten into the meat of things. Learning the English language all over again...just kidding! But becoming aware of how often I use idioms, slang, and useless words such as um, like, so, or and. I am excited and nervous to see how teaching kindergarten will go. First the language barrier and the. The idea that I will be giving these tykes a foundation for the rest of their lives. There I go using tykes instead of children or students. Idioms! We've also discussed why we've decided to go to china. The answers vary but we're all pretty excited.

The pre-adventure begins

Today is the first day of training. It seems like I've been 'going to China' for a very long time, but not actually going anywhere. This is the start, the putting into motion, the beginning of the beginning. I am very excited to see what the future holds, and these next 12 days will answer a lot of my questions.

Now, I've got to get back to it.

okay... big news of the week. I got my contract from the school I'll be teaching at and everything got very real - it's actually happening!

Also, I found out that I'll be teaching Kindergarten. (this is 90% sure)

It's very exciting and very scary, and will help me with my patience. =)

On the more mundane..... It's almost Friday!

I was thinking to myself, "self, what if people want to know what time it is in shaoxing?"
Actually, I was doing some internet surfing and came across timeanddate.com which had a free customizable clock to add to a blog... It seemed perfect.
